Plan
and Design
The brief was to design between 10 and 12 units on a part vacant part accommodated site in Rochdale, the project briefly entailed site clearance including the demolition of an existing Wesleyan chapel, the site required planning permission and building regulations approval, to achieve this all initial professional services were taken care of by steve including, cost analysis, planning permission, working drawings, geotechnical survey, SUDS survey, Archaelogy reports, bat and bird survey, historical mapping and surveys, BREEAM analytical's, 3D modelling, initial structural calculations, foundation design, once the local authority was satisfied steve engaged the services of geotechnical, structural, environmental, archaeological, specialist to add weight and expertise to achieve a positive outcome. Once planning permission was granted works commenced on site for which Steve was employed as site engineer overseeing works ensuring that the structure was correctly oriented and laid and that site levels were correct ready for the vibro piling of the foundations, whilst in the mean time preparing all working drawings ready for building regulations and services to enter the site. The project is currently at steel frame stage which should be erected in the next 2 weeks.
Our project was to convert a former post office, we were unsure/open to ideas how best to approach this. We called steve at archtech design solutions he had ideas immediately and his fixed fee costings were clear and simple, Steve removed all of the pressure of the project design which was quite difficult as it was in a conservation area, he acts with absolute professionalism and reassurance, Steve gained positive approval first time which we were initially unsure of
Steve took the existing building and created two shop and two residential units using a very sympathetic design which satisfied planning and conservation, Steve stayed with us throughout the build giving clear advice, we knew that we had made the right choice when the building control officer commented that, any advice or direction go through Steve he will point you in the right direction I will not have any issues with his recommendations if Steve is happy, then I am.
I can highly recommend Steve for any of your projects and will use him without any reservations.
Masood QSH Maintenance
This was a design and build project carried out by steve the brief was to refurbish the existing farm house, renovate/convert the attached barn and construct an extension to form a sun room , dining room, and bedroom extension including balcony. Due to the location the project at planning stage was under direct scrutiny of conservation officers and for approval to be granted for the extensions the natural stone work had to match exactly with the existing, some efforts were made to enforce the use of timber windows however by using intelligent argument based upon the longevity of timber windows it was eventually submitted that a composite aluminium system would provide the best all round solution. Once the relevant approvals had been granted Jackson's construction took over, we completely gutted the farm and then commenced with the full refurbishment the renovation/conversion of the barn to create a split level sunken lounge with vaulted ceiling and minstrel gallery, whilst outside work had also commenced on the extensions, during groundwork's we were unearthing sheets of natural virgin stone which formed the basis of the stone walling to construct the extensions. All of the works were completed on time on budget to a turn key finish and standard.
Nothing in this world is more simple, affordable, and rewarding than improving people's lives with great design
